Fun With Fractals!
As you can tell from my gallery, I love kaleidoscopes. As much as I love them, I still don’t want to limit myself as an artist. Fractal imagry is another thing that facinates me, and I’ve been trying to learn how to make them. Frankly, the few programs I’ve tried have been confusing to me and I know zero about the formulas for making fractals. Let’s just say that I’m not mathmatically inclined and leave it at that.
I kept trying though, and finally found a program I think I will like. It’s a freeware fractal generator called Fractal Forge. It’s free to download and use the program (free is good!), but they do require that you acknowledge Fractal Forge for any images you use that were generated by the program. A very small and extremely reasonable price to pay, in my opinion!
I’m still confused about the formulas and haven’t explored much of the program yet, but I was able to come up with a great fractal in just a few minutes of feeling my way around. Not being able to leave well enough alone, I then used Paint Shop Pro 7 to tweak the colors and add some effects. Yes, I can see I’m gonna have some fun with making fractals!

awesome! I have been fascinated w/ fractals since I learned about them around four years ago. I don’t have a good understanding of them, but they are awesome. I saw a program recently about them. it explained how the patterns are self replicating and how it’s like having a line divided into thirds with the middle line erased with that pattern repeating over and over….very cool! I have to check out that program! thanks!
Fractals are awesome, aren’t they? I’m glad I found a program that I can manage fairly well, while not understanding much at all, lol! I suppose eventually I’ll start to gain a better knowledge, but for now I’m just going to have fun creating them.
Zazzle Review : Kalos Eidos
Hey there and welcome back! today you’ll get to know another great Zazzle Contributor ready to show her best!
Kalos Eidos!
Mary, for Kalos gives us her word on her work:
“Kalos Eidos features kaleidoscopic art on a variety products including t-shirts, Keds shoes, mugs greeting cards, bags, mousepads and more. I am a completely self-taught digital artist, and I love the learning process as much as creating the actual art. Using my designs to customize Zazzle products in order to offer my work to the public is a naturally enjoyable part of the creation process, and I look forward to growing as an artist and Zazzle contributor!”
So, what we have here is a tematic shop. With a tematic shop you have a two way street. On one hand, if you like this stuff the whole store if for you. On the other hand, if your not into Kaleidoscopic art, you might not jump at these products right away… but c’mon, let’s take an indeep look.

We get off with this review with this gorgeous Keds slip on shoes. The thing with this art is that it just works. The flow of the pattern works with the shoe itself. Making for something you can wear in your home for comfort or even to go out with your family.
The things with this sort of footwear is that it works just fine with jeans as it would with shorts, it’s a match game that will run you about $72.00. Somewhat steep, no doubt. But how much you think custom footwear costs!?

Next we have this very nice T-Shirt. Now, many of you might not know this, but Shirts at zazzle are customizable. So, for the same design, you can change the Shirt type and color into over 100 options. And that’s the drive here. The design itself is nicely done. Simple, but simplicity does go a long way. Plus, i personally prefer simple designs. They give more bang for their buck and are never too pretentious.
At just $26.35 you get a custom design at a custom shirt. Beautiful motif and ready for anyone and any season. It’s what’s zazzle is about, and this right here is enough evidence of what you can get.

Now, you know mousepads. If you’re here now, you have one. The thing with mousepads is that most people just go for the basic black and/or blue ones and stay there. nobody really pays attention to these, and that’s a mistake. For people who work on their computers, on use one on a daily basis, a simple mousepad can be a nice gift. For any day, and any momment.
The design here is trully “girly”, but on the other hand, you have something that skips age. From 13 to 31 you can have something like this, and i bet you see your desktop looks better. It’s better when your desk is clean and organized, isnt? People pay hundreds for custom PC cases, mouses, Monitors and the such… why not go the extra $13,15 and get yourself a nice compliment? Not only this is cheaper than what you would pay on a simple Black Mousepad, but also it has it’s own personality.
OVERALL:
On the overall view, Kalos Eidos is a classic WYSIWYG (What you see is What You Get) store. The art is constant, the prices are within range, the quality is constant, and with over 500 options for you to check, i would dare anyone to look at this store and not find at least one item that someone they know would like.
